There are many things I learned from the book Unmerited favor by Joseph Prince. But I want to share the top three things I learned about grace (unmerited favor).
Hebrews 4:16 says "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hoorah to God.
- God's grace is permanent. I am a beloved child or daughter of God and therefore His grace is upon me everyday of my life. It is permanent. No one and nothing can take it away from me. For that, I am truly grateful. It is just so amazing to feel His presence, His grace, His mercy when I am fully Christ-conscious. Praise God for his constant goodness. His faithfulness is new every morning.
- God's grace is your qarah (success). As explained in the book, qarah is the Hebrew word for success. It means "positioning for right happenings" (p. 287). We are at the right place at the right time. When I read about qarah, I was so encouraged to pray for it everyday. I know that my husband is at the right workplace at the right time, as I am at the right place as a homemaker at the very right time. And God will grant us qarah right where we are. It's a liberating thought and a liberating feeling. Praise be to God's grace.
- God's grace is free. What more can I do to obtain His favor? Nothing! When Christ said on the cross more than 2000 years ago that "It is finished", it really is finished. I thank the Lord for I don't have to die over and over to be forgiven. Christ died for me. And His grace is free. What more I can do but to seize it and if there's one thing I would want to abuse - it's God's grace. But don't get me wrong, this does not mean I will do and go my own way. I'm not going to abuse His grace by sinning. I'm going to abuse it by making the most of it in praising, glorifying and upholding my Lord; in acknowledging that everyday I live only because of His grace.
