Count your blessings! I truly believe in that. I actually do that. I literally count my blessings by writing them in a small notebook. As of now I'm on the 10th page of that small notebook of blessings and answered prayers. Written there are those I can only remember although I write in it everyday, or at least I try to. There are still so much I have not written down. It only shows that there are really more things we can thank God for. There are more things we can be thankful for. It is really true what they say that there are more blessings than sad things in life. We just forget to count them. These are the reasons why I write down mine:
Count your blessings. You'll be surprised to know that in one adversity there's a thousand blessings to be thankful for. Now is everyday. Now is every opportunity to be grateful. Now is the time for celebration.
- So I can always be in an attitude of thanksgiving. It's good and special to make this a lifestyle. I want to remember God not only when I need Him to rescue me. I want to remember Him more when He blesses me. James 5:13 says "Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise".
- So I won't forget that there's nothing I have to do in order to obtain His grace. The blessings and answered prayers I see in my notebook are not achieved through my good works. I don't even have to do anything and God will continue to bless me.
- So that God will be the highlight of my everyday life. I want Him to have the glory. Sometimes we have the tendency to glorify ourselves when something great happen, neglecting the One true faithful Giver. It happens to me too.
- So I can show my son (my next generation) of how good and faithful God is even when I am not. I want my son Zachary to grow up knowing that he is filled with the goodness of the Lord. I want him to always be conscious of His blessings so that when there are tough times, he will not focus on the toughness of the situation but praise God instead.
Count your blessings. You'll be surprised to know that in one adversity there's a thousand blessings to be thankful for. Now is everyday. Now is every opportunity to be grateful. Now is the time for celebration.
