Years passed by and he found out he had grandchildren already. Years passed by and his hair turned gray. He would see his daughter and talk to her once in a while. But he just could not seem to bring back the time he lost, that precious time he should have abused to know her daughter well. He could not seem to make it up to her now that he was old.
Years passed and he was ready to go. Filled with so much regret, he still kept his hopes high.
Years passed and he found himself in heaven. How blessed could he ever be?
Years passed and he saw his daughter in heaven. And then he got confused. But her daughter was so glad to see him there.
"Oh, my wonderful daughter" he said, "I'm so glad to see you here. In heaven we are at last."
"I'm glad to see you too" she said. "I wonder where mom could be".
The man felt sad. Because he knew his wife on earth is not with them in heaven.
"Since when..." he struggled to ask. "Since when have you known Christ?"
"Since I was in college, when you were so busy doing what you like doing best". She need not tell him what that was.
The man nodded and said "How I wish you were the one... the one who told me about Christ. Maybe if you did at that time, I would have listened, and if I did, maybe your mother is here with us right now. I wish you were the one, and not our neighbor."
And they both cried. (Original story from Azir Gamboa. Please ask for permission if you want to re-post it.)
I want to be the one to plant the seed (Jesus Christ) to my family.
I want to be the one to harvest them for God.
I want to be the one to pray for them everyday.
I want to be the one to show and extend to them the overflowing LOVE of God.
I want to be the one to minister to them.
I want to be the one, because I want to, and because I love God.
I want to be the one!
Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" _ISAIAH 6:8
